The members' forum is a place where members can meet and discuss issues of importance to them. The central purpose is to encourage people to establish home meetings for worship on the Sabbath day, to provide a foundation of Biblical doctrine for such individuals and small groups, and a place where they may discuss both doctrines and practical issues of engaging in home worship. The focus is discussion of the Bible and associated topics, fellowship, prayer requests, sharing of testimonies, and praise to God. This is not the place to advertise other products, engage in personal polemics, use abusive or uncouth language, or attack other members. It is the place to encourage others to come closer to God through study of the Bible, and enjoy meeting people who engage in that practice. You are strongly encouraged to write here, share your experiences of Sabbath worship in home groups, and praise God for His blessings and leading.
5th Commandment & Jesus

5th Commandment & JesusIn the 5th commandment of YHWH's Holy Torah, something I firmly believe in, Israel is told:
Exo 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. This, according to even the Pharisaic Rabbi Paul of Tarsus, is the FIRST commandment with a promise, that promise is that your days may be long in the land.... God put this as the first human interactive commandment. It's in an order. Because YHWH is order, YHWH is love. I love and honor my parents. Nothing but YHWH comes between my parents and me. Not even Jesus, who said: Mat 10:34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. Mat 10:35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Mat 10:36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. Mat 10:37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. This not only violates the 5th commandment, but it also violates what God said elsewhere concerning those who "bring a sword" or "set a man against..."... Pro 6:16 There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: Pro 6:17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, Pro 6:18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, Pro 6:19 a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. Pro 6:20 My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not your mother's teaching. Pro 6:21 Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck. Pro 6:22 When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk with you. YHWH alone is sufficient for those of us who do not violate any of the ten commandments. Shalom Aleichem, Gordon
Re: 5th Commandment & JesusDearest Gordon
The word of GOD is immutable and that is why the LORD JESUS CHRIST said He is the fulfilment of the commandment of GOD, for in HIM and through HIM alone are we able to understand, obey and fulfil the law of GOD. The spirit of CHRIST empowers us to come to the knowledge of the great I AM, the ALMIGHTY GOD.For who has seen GOD but HE who has revealed the glory and love of GOD by the price which he paid for me and you on the cross at Calvary.Having come to the knowledge of GOD through the indwelling spirit of CHRIST,He teaches us obidience to the will of the father for HE (CHRIST)loved to do the will of GOD. Re: 5th Commandment & JesusHi Chika,
That's an interesting comparison that Gordon brought up there. Care to comment on the verses? Matthew 5:17-20 suggests that what he is saying in Matthew 10:34-37 isn't the same in nature. I have to agree with Gordon that Jesus was making a lot of comments that seem to contrast badly with the law and prophets themselves. As far as any figure dying on a cross, we who have studied the ancient astral myths know that many stories of deities emulate the solar personification of the winter solstice. I appreciate your comments though. Ben
Re: 5th Commandment & JesusDearest Ben
I see no disagreement between what the LORD JESUS CHRIST said in Matthew 5:17-20 and 10:34-37 whatsoever.I will humbly and respectfully suggest you look up the post from web923 and the reply from Thomas found in general discussion (Jesus says Hate your mother). The issue as I see it is ,to whom do we become servant to obey? May grace from GOD the FATHER and from our LORD JESUS CHRIST abound with you. IN HIS LOVE Chika
Re: 5th Commandment & JesusChika,
When you put an "AND" in your worship process, you're promoting dualism. I worship and serve only YHWH my Elohim, and no other. I do not bow to, pray in the name of, or worship any other God, and I don't do so through mediators or sages or Rabbis. I pray directly and say, "Father YHWH, let your will be done,...." and I don't close with "in the name of Jesus" or any other method inviting a secondary element. I do not listen to the doctrines of men or the dogma of religious ballyhoo on this matter. The ten commandments ALONE are the way and path. Nothing else is necessary to achieve personal peace and freedom from the worldly. Even Jesus taught the proper way to pray in Matthew 6. Did he add any "you must pray in my name" to the Lord's prayer? No. Shalom, Ben
Re: 5th Commandment & JesusJesus never violated the 5th commandment. By his birth alone, people have started turning against their own family members. By his missionary alone, BEFORE he said anything about turning children against parents, etc... it was happening already. It's interesting to note that in both the Old and New Testaments, before any of the prophecies are even foretold by the prophets, there were already signs preceding all of it. Prophecies are necessary because people are too stupid to realize for themselves that they are indeed heading for destruction like riding a psychotic horse towards a burning stable. Remember, the stiff-necked, hard-hearted people? Those are the kinds of people that the prophecies were for - so they'd finally shut their mouths and perhaps believe in the Lord. For true Christians, the prophecies are meant as a joyous thing - each prophecy being foretold means the coming of Christ is closer. Even right now, things are happening faster than in the past 30 years.
By the mere destruction of a city, of a person, of a race, of a nation, of a kingdom, of a religion, or the emergence of any of these - a lot of other things have happened as a result of it, both good and bad. This is the same example that Jesus was talking about! These are the birth pangs that Jesus spoke of, including children rebelling against parents. And if you think he violated the 5th commandment, then that means he was NOT the Messiah nor God, and that means his prediction should have never come true, and therefore children should have been 100% obedient to their parents even now. But they're not. They never will be until Jesus comes back.
